One cannot acknowledge the year’s creative contributions without noting its losses. This year seemed unusually disproportionate in the number of creative voices that moved onto another plane. Here, I note only those whose artistry has had particular impact on my life. I certainly recognize that many, many others have departed the Earth this year. But I hope this feeble remembrance repays a small portion of the enrichment these creative voices have provided to me.

Very sad, and too long a list indeed. The risk of omission is high when you're doing this kind of reporting. I'm honestly ot being critical of your work, but should the opportunity present, please add Edgar Bateman, the Philadelphia Drummer (a Walt Dickerson comrade), Hadley Caliman the tenor player from Seattle, Fred Anderson (the Chicago saxohonist and owner of the famous Velvet Lounge), and alto saxophonist Noah Howard (originally from Now Orleans) but last lived in Belgium.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your good work!
