After I wrote this piece, Intrada briefly issued the complete soundtrack to 99 AND 44/100% DEAD!

http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.6608/.f

Unfortunately, the CD seems to be sold out already. It may be available on places like eBay.

Mr. Alarm: Excellent question. But I don't know the answer. The cover album cover art, great as it is, is very misleading. I would agree with your surmise about the horrors that took place at the '72 Olympics.Douglas Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16566227636904708488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-49627795743532031502010-12-21T15:01:07.816-05:002010-12-21T15:01:07.816-05:00Spectacular. I still promote the 1970s albums of Mancini to people regularly (most of whom cannot imagine anything like The Cop Show Themes or Symphonic Soul, and you've covered most, if not all, of the bases here. I've long wondered if ever the main theme from 99 & 44/100% Dead was ever released? I have the two different albums which have "Hangin' Out" with "Big Hank" whistling, but have long wanted a copy of the more engaging, martial-jazz sounding main theme from the film. Never seen anything else. Any clue?

Thanks, keep up the great work.du proserpiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13830048827356028176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-43040208781931660562010-02-04T13:20:45.711-05:002010-02-04T13:20:45.711-05:00I've been a big fan of Visions Of Eight (RCA, ...I've been a big fan of Visions Of Eight (RCA, 1973)for years (I had it as an LP when it came out). As hard to find as the film is - I've yet to see it - the music is very accessible. "Theme for the Losers" is one of my all-time favorite pieces, and a brilliant conception to boot. Do you know the cover photo, which is very dramatic and slightly confusing considering the other more typical pictures of Olympians doing their sport on the inside? Was it perhaps an acknowledgment of the horrors that took place at the '72 Olympics?Mr. Alarmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07872240736558100541noreply@blogger.com
