Also, even his short movie cues are usually perfect little miniature pieces, with a begining, middle and end. He had the ability to write music that was accessible but never banal.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-60198082492645177382011-04-17T19:09:37.879-04:002011-04-17T19:09:37.879-04:00Very good, but you made a mistake.

It had all the elegance of jazz, the decadence of the playful rich and the cool of Bond who knows his boss, M, doesn’t “book him into the best hotel in Miami Beach out of pure gratitude." - Your words and feelings about Barry make you and I blood-brothers in the sacred film music "Lodge of The Sound". John invented, and will now forever own sole rights to, The Sound. Long ago it used to be called "The Barry Sound", but that quickly became obsolete, just as one now only has to say "007". Without having to utter another word the world will know you mean James Bond.John Benderhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/eurofilmscoresociety/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-72214153930253398352011-02-02T12:53:45.052-05:002011-02-02T12:53:45.052-05:00Thank you, Douglas. I ...Excellent tribute to John Barry and his music.
I first heard the "007" theme in "From Russia With Love" and was hooked on John Barry ever since. Like many, once you had a taste, you were hooked and continued to seek other music composed by Barry and to appreciate other film soundtracks.
I once commented to a friend while watching a movie about how the background music was wonderful and his comment was " I didn't even notice or hear it".
Thank you John Barry for opening my ears and mind for what has become many years of pleasurable listening and appreciation of music.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-59348139329641868032011-02-01T06:27:47.659-05:002011-02-01T06:27:47.659-05:00Thanks Doug for the John Barry sorry to read that ...Thanks Doug for the John Barry sorry to read that he died.
