It's the perfect record. Babbit is front and center with his tasty bass licks, Thomas on flute ith Baker's spot on arrangement. This song sounds as fresh today as it did 45 years ago.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08427587419813665697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-83642500393178958572021-05-11T11:43:12.813-04:002021-05-11T11:43:12.813-04:00Million thanks for the info on Brad Baker and the ...Million thanks for the info on Brad Baker and the rest. on Brad Baker...Thank you for this thorough research
on Brad Baker, a talented yet modest orchestrator, composer and arranger. He indeed left his mark in music history in the 1960s and 1970s. Today he is actively involved in reed playing in New York City with several jazz bands and orchestras. Music is in his heart.
You can contact him at elearnus@yahoo.com.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-2469251065139674932011-06-10T09:17:01.402-04:002011-06-10T09:17:01.402-04:00Thank you so much for this extremely well-research...Thank you so much for this extremely well-researched piece on Brad Baker- and Lance Quinn - which I discovered while surfing the net for information about Joe Thomas, Bob Babitt and Geoff Diamond. Baker, Quinn (& Lester) are of course the common link here and my Top Twenty All Time Disco Funk (or Orchestral Disco) Tracks ALL contain various combinations of Baker, Quinn, Lester, Diamond, Thomas & Babbitt (as well as, on occasion, Jimmy Ponder). Many thanks & to you - muchos kudos!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-29384741981750331322010-10-07T15:47:49.067-04:002010-10-07T15:47:49.067-04:00Brad Baker and Lance Quinn also had some decent su...Brad Baker and Lance Quinn also had some decent success in the early '80's with Big Al Downing, who, riding the Urban Cowboy craze, got into the country music scene for awhile. A few singles were released on Warner Brothers, including "Bring It On Home." Then, in '82, Downing teamed up with Baker/Quinn for a country album on the Team label out of Philadelphia. This lp included some of the old Warner stuff, as well as some new tunes like "It Takes Love" which made the Billboard country top 40 in early 1983. Another single from that album was "Darlene." It, too, saw some chart action, and is a major cult classic on today's Carolina beach music scene. These guys were able to produce a very authentic country sound, just adding to the superb versatility of the Baker/Quinn team.Dave Hinsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20115328.post-82460301255837715872010-05-09T11:01:11.752-04:002010-05-09T11:01:11.752-04:00I was searching for a high school friend with whom...I was searching for a high school friend with whom I played in a jazz band, late 60s. This couldn't be the same Brad Baker, could it? He was a saxophonist.
